tackling the crucible

Hello everyone!

I would like to remind everybody that we are exactly one month ahead of schedule (look at the Plan page under Devblog).

Today, I worked on the crucible. A crucible is a hot vat used to melt down metals. In Crevis, the crucible will be the primary machine for creating alloys, processing ores, and creating castable items like metal armor, metal sword blades, etc.

I am not yet sure how the crucible is going to work. Currently, I'm leaning toward having the crucible only operable with another machine called the crucible caster. Essentially, ore processing would consist of two blocks; one block for melting the metals and the other one for casting the metals into ingots or whatever the user would like to make.

I have also introduced a new item called slag -- slag is the unwanted residue from ore that must be removed in order to get the metal. Slag will slowly build up if not removed. Slag is basically a biproduct and has no other uses. In my next post, I will hopefully have some screenshots.
